When I first saw the 'sage pinecone' print I thought it was way too Laura Ingalls Wilder for my tastes... but I tried it anyway, since I love the long sleeved Scarlett, and Hill House has a gracious return policy.
First and foremost, the colors in this pattern are VERY misrepresented in the overly edited Fall campaign photos, and even in the overly bright studio lighting photos the pattern doesn't look true. Honestly, they did this dress dirty in those washed out sepia toned photos for Fall...
While the dress is very warm toned, the pinecone outlines are almost burgundy, and the 'pinecone' itself almost taupe- but the real star is the the muted teal background color. Sure, there are some dark cornflower blue accents that tie it all together but the teal is the star. (I would say sage but there is literally no green in this dress so who knows how we got to that pattern name? Maybe because the teal is more muted like you'd see in a traditional sage color?
Anyway, I love this pattern and the colors in it and I hope my review urges you to give this beautiful dress a chance. If you've been on the fence I'd highly recommend trying this Scarlett for yourself - she's a perfect edition to you fall wardrobe.
If you've read this far sorry to ramble, but I'll also say this can run a bit long in the sleeves so I sized to a small but the medium was also fine just a lot of fabric!
