The Hotel Robe

I received this beautiful robe as a birthday present in August. I washed it before wearing, and a few threads in the terry cloth unraveled. I've washed it three times since (once a week), and it looks like a dish rag. The colors have faded, and there are loose threads everywhere. It looks like it's 5 years old instead of 5 weeks old. Although I contacted Hill House after the second wash, they will not take it back because the return policy states the item must be new with the tags and packaging intact. For $178, I certainly expected better, and I feel like cannot tell my daughter about the poor quality of this gift.

My daughter is in college and had to have this robe for Xmas. I went to visit her several weeks ago and was shocked at how bad it looked. Several areas had pulls and I know she knows how to wash clothes. So had nothing to do with it. Just very disappointed. Was hoping this is something she would have for a long time.

As a loyal HHH shopper, I’ve been eyeing this robe for months but kept passing it up. Finally, I decided to buy it, and I’ve been living in it. It’s incredibly cozy but not fuzzy, which is a must-have for me (damp fuzzy feeling on your skin post-shower? No thanks.). It’s also highly absorbent but not too towel-like.

I opted for the L/XL size instead of my usual M, fearing it wouldn’t be cozy or roomy enough, but it runs slightly big. I’ll take roominess over a robe that’s too tight.
