The dress is absolutely beautiful! The lace is thick and substantial, and the bows are made of a taffeta material that is thick and has a nice drape. The ribbon also has a little string to secure a strap, if you need it. However, there are a few aspects I didn't love. First, the lining is *very* thin. This is noted in reviews for the tulle ribbon dress, as well. When trying it on, I instantly put on a slip because of how see-through it was. Next - hear me out - I actually see why the lining was excluded in the original lace Ellies. The edge of the smocking into the skirt is just a little bit thick due to the lining. It doesn't drape as nicely as the original Ellies. I think that's probably what limits how thick the lining itself can be! So again, now I understand why the original Ellies weren't lined. Also, this Ellie runs slightly smaller than the others due to a clear elastic strip at the top, which I think help keeps it in place. But I would say take one size up from your typical Ellie size. However, the length is a bit longer than other Ellies, which was noticeable on my short frame. And finally, it's HEAVY. You can tell it is very well-made, but it definitely translates to a heavier dress and one that is less comfortable than the original Ellies. I bought a white original lace and ultimately decided to keep that one and return this dress.
TLDR: this dress is perfect for someone at least 5'5 and doesn't mind wearing a slip (despite the lining), and don't forget to size…
